Such a great quote by my favourite Hogwarts Headmaster and one that I think is important in times like these. The pandemic can be tough on everyone, and we need to find ways to find the positives in each day:)
Today was a busy one for Division 1. We worked on new concepts with decimals in Math, practiced our volleyball skills in gym, and learned about the difference between artificial and natural selection in Science. Disappointingly, we are also taking a hiatus on use of cell phones in the classroom for educational purposes and music due to regular misuse. We will work for the rest of the term to earn back that privilege. In the meantime, phones will stay in students' backpacks and backpacks will remain hung up in the cloakroom.

All information for hominids up to Cro-Magnon- due MONDAY PHOTO RETAKES TOMORROW Today we had a really long conversation about the behaviours we've been experiencing in our classroom, and the lack of respect that has been shown to each other. I am really hoping that each of you took something from that conversation about what it looks like to treat others with respect, kindness, and empathy. I will be expecting better from you. This morning during French, students dropped everything for Drop Everything and Read, where once a year, the whole school drops what they are doing to read. We have been doing this for several years now. After our Family Meeting we got started with typing up our Halloween stories. They are coming along very well, and will be due on Thursday, October 29th.
During Math we practiced adding and subtracting decimals, both through calculations and through estimation. After lunch we had gym, then used the rest of the afternoon to work on typing up our Halloween stories and our Social Studies projects. Reminders: Thursday, October 29th-Halloween Stories DUE Friday, October 30th-Class Halloween party in the afternoon |
