Halloween Story Drafts-Due THURSDAY, October 22nd Pro-D Day-NO SCHOOL Friday, October 23rd Band TOMORROW Jersey day THURSDAY October 22nd. Wear your favourite team jersey! Today we started off with a soft start in French, then had our class meeting. We continued our read aloud and learned that change can happen to people in a couple of different ways. Either slow and steady, or from a sudden, possibly traumatic experience.
In math, we started a new unit where we will be working with decimals. In the afternoon we played Hunger Games in gym. Lastly, we briefly started our socials unit and had band! Halloween Story Drafts-Due THURSDAY, October 22nd Pro-D Day-NO SCHOOL Friday, October 23rd Today Division 1 worked on cementing their understanding of Greatest Common Factors and Lowest Common Multiples. In the afternoon we began reflecting on Freshgrade. We looked at our zentangles, divisibility quizzes, and our Best Part of Me assignments. Students reflected on what they were most proud of, what they did well, and what they could improve on.
Reminders: Complete your reflections on Freshgrade if you are not already done. Comments on each assignment should be: What was your favourite part and why? What are you most proud of and why? What would you have done differently and why? How will you do that next time? What do you want others to notice and why? Upcoming Dates: Tuesday, October 20th: Early dismissal @ 1:30 Friday, October 23rd: Pro-D day. No school Parents and Guardians: If you wish to meet with me, please do not wait until the school arranges interviews. Feel free to contact me by email or phone at any time if you have questions or concerns to discuss with me. I can be reached most quickly at [email protected]. You may also call the school at 604-575-1359 P.A.R (MANDATORY).: Post a question about GCF or LCM for other students to solve. Respond to ONE student who has not been responded to already. For example, your post could be: "Find the LCM of 5 and 12." Today Division 1 worked hard to complete their Best Part of Me projects. The posters turned out beautifully, and it was great to see students focusing on something that they like about themselves. During Math Mrs. Sekhon taught the students about how to find the greatest common factor for a pair of numbers, using different strategies. In the afternoon, we learned about Early Humans and tried a new game with Mrs. Sekhon.
Reminders: Monday, October 12th-NO SCHOOL DUE TO THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY P.A.R.: Today we read a lot in our read aloud book, Touching Spirit Bear. The main character, Cole, went through a lot of trauma and reflection and learned a lot about the way the world works through his own suffering. In 3-4 sentences, explain ONE important thing that happened in our reading from TODAY, and explain why it is important. Use examples from the book to explain your answer. Important reminders:

Best Part of Me Posters due on Thursday Monday, October 12th is Thanksgiving. NO SCHOOL Hi Division 1! I wanted to let you know that one of the students in our class had their bike stolen last week. If you happen to see it, please let me know! Here is a picture: Today Division 1 started the day by practicing their logical problem solving skills by completing a couple of Whodunits! They surprised themselves when the found one to be quite easy, and again when they successfully completed a much more difficult problem.
After recess Mrs. Sekhon started the Best Part of Me project with the students as her first lesson with Division 1. In the afternoon, the class engaged in the Terry Fox run within our learning cohort. Very well done everyone! Reminders: NO SCHOOL MONDAY-PRO D DAY Please pay $5 online for your planner. Go to https://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=mte2mdawoq2srl and complete the quiz. Be thoughtful with your answers. Then, go to the "Blog Responses" page and complete the task.
Hey Kidlets! Welcome to your class website! Take a look around, get an idea of how this is used and how it could be useful to you. I mostly use this to provide you with a list of events that are coming up, important information that you need to know or that your parents/guardians might need to know, as well as use it to extend our learning outside of the classroom.
One of my favourite ways to use this website is in the form of a P.A.R., or Post a Response. Often I will have you comment on the website about something that happened during the read aloud that day, or about something we learned in class. These make up part of your Language Arts mark, and trust me when I say that I do read all of your comments! For today, you have a couple of tasks. 1. Go to the Blog Responses page. Read the question, and respond as a comment. See if you can figure out how to do this without asking me for help. 2. Find a school appropriate funny joke or meme and post it as a comment on the main page. 3. Go back to the Blog Responses page. Respond with constructive feedback to one other person, using the 2 stars and a wish format. 4. Revise your original comment based on the feedback you received. 5. Take a screenshot of your dream travel destination (Command Shift 4). Email the picture to Mr. Stewart at [email protected]. I'll see you all between 10:45 and 11:15! I can't wait!
