Today we worked on our socials project and we also made salad rolls with Ms. Walsh. We worked hard on our math to get ready for the test on Wednesday. Mr. Stewart also forced us to endure the Frozen 2 soundtrack.

P.A.R.: What is one thing you learned in our Nutrition unit? It's been an interesting couple of days for Division 2. We've experienced some extreme highs and some extreme lows. As a class we've been having a really difficult time following lunch time expectations which has led to a break down in our class structure and less freedoms. This afternoon we interacted in a circle and demonstrated respect for each other's thoughts and opinions, how we feel, what we need our classroom to look like, with everyone getting a say. Now we are moving forward knowing what we need to do, we just have to do it!
On a positive note, the students performed last night in our Christmas concert and did an absolutely amazing job. Everyone was right on their timing, the singing and dancing were amazing, Sophie and Sequoia brought the house down with their acrobatics. It was truly a moment every student in Division 2 should be proud of. Reminders: Monday is our last day for Nutrition. Students need to bring whatever item they decided on as a group, as well as an apron. Tuesday-We are decorating gingerbread houses. Ensure you bring whatever candy you would like for decorating. Wednesday-In the morning we will do our math test. Right before recess we will be going bowling (leaving at 10:10). Bring your wrapped Secret Santa gift for Wednesday with the students' name clearly written on the item. Place it in my cupboard. Friday: Clean up the class of all decorations, clean out desks, then have our class party. Ensure you bring whatever you have signed up to bring for the party. P.A.R.: "You can't control the things that happen to you, but you CAN control the way you respond." "Life is all about choices. It is the choices you make that determine your path in life"-Mr. Stewart's Grandpa "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends"-Dumbledore "It is our choices, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities"-Dumbledore Pick one of the above quotes and reflect on it. Respond with what you think it means, and how the message it provides could impact you. Today we worked on our socials projects and percentages. In the afternoon we practiced our dance.

Today Division 2 worked through some serious rehearsals for the Christmas concert, coming December 12th! We also started a new math unit about percents, something that the students will likely use a lot in real life. It was a bit of a struggle at first, but hopefully with a little bit more practice, they will be flying through the concepts. Report cards were also sent home at the end of the day. Please have a parent or guardian sign one of the copies and send that one back.

P.A.R.: In Touching Spirit Bear, Cole has been presented with many metaphors about life, such as a hot dog and a stick. Life is like a hot dog, it is what you make it. As for the stick, it represented anger. No matter how much you try to break off the anger end, there is still an end, meaning the anger will always be there. Give an example of the book where Cole could have done something differently, if he had changed perspectives. For example, he was provided with a shelter when he first went to the island. Instead of looking at it as a place to sleep, he could think of it as a warm, cozy fortress, his own personal castle on the island. That could have changed the way he felt about being on the island. Think of your own example of something Cole had, saw, or did, and explain how changing his perspective about it could have been resulted in something more positive. |
