Cookies! Mack's face when she sees cookies made in Explorations! Today was our third exploration day and my group made chocolate chip cookies! They turned out really well and some students added variations like white chocolate chips, milk chocolate, and oatmeal. The entire school smelled amazing!

Today the weather was phenomenal so Division 5 spent a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine. During our Fire Drill this morning our class behaved perfectly! They were so quiet and set a great example for younger students.
This morning we began our Writer's Workshop. Students will be writing their own chapter books over the course of the next few weeks. Between recess and lunch we met up with our buddies and went outside for some fun. We drew with chalk, skipped, and played Four Square, Tetherball, and Hopscotch. In the afternoon we had our second session of Explorations. My Baking group made Rice Krispie Squares with a few variations such as sprinkles and coloured Rice Krispies as well. P.A.R.: Let us know what you are up to this weekend! This morning Division 5 watched a very powerful movie called Lion. It was about a 5 year old boy living in absolute poverty with his mom, brother, and sister in India. Saroo becomes lost and separated from his brother, later becoming adopted by a family in Australia. The video demonstrated the effects that poverty can have on a person and a family and brought our poverty unit to a close. Math 6: Create your name using angles. Estimate the angles in the letters of your name as demonstrated on the board today. Math 7: See your teachers' website. Reminders: Friday is Western Day. We also have the pancake breakfast, put on by our parents, in the morning. Explorations on Friday afternoon-my group will be making Rice Krispie Squares. Bring something to jazz up your snacks if you like such as sprinkles, coloured marshmallows, food coloring, a chocolate bar, etc. P.A.R.: What stood out for you the most in the movie this morning? Today Div 5 had a fun and productive day. In the morning we worked through a somewhat difficult logic puzzle and then moved onto Math where our Grade 6's increased their understanding of the different types of angles.
