Good morning Div 2! First things first, check your emails! Remember to check your student email every morning. I emailed some of you yesterday to give you some suggestions for the math that you posted to Freshgrade. If I did that, please make the suggested changes and upload it to Freshgrade again.
For today: Digital Citizenship: Go to the Week 4 Digital Citizenship folder and read through the assignment. Poster is due Friday at 3:00pm. Please upload it to Freshgrade, or email it to me at [email protected] if the format you have chosen is unable to be uploaded. Letter to Self: if you have red writing on your draft, then I have given you feedback. Make the suggested changes. I have provided feedback to nearly everyone now, so if you are still missing red writing on your essay, contact me by email or the class chat in the morning. UPLOAD your letter to self to FreshGrade. Remember, this should not just be a letter where you ask your future self a ton of questions like "Do you still watch Riverdale?" You should be sharing information with future you, not asking for information from future you. Math: Answers to yesterday’s work is in the April 30th document. Complete the math quiz under assignments called “Area of a Parallelogram and Triangles” Blog Post: Today you should be taking the feedback you received and applying it. Revise your original post using the feedback and post it below your original post. It should go-your post, feedback, your revised post, all in one thread. Go to the “Blog Responses” page. Watch the video, then follow the instructions below. Remember, altogether you will do 3 comments. One for your post, one to revise your post, and one to provide feedback to someone else. These will take place over three days, not two as I said previously. Tuesday-Do your post Wednesday-Provide feedback to one other person (if you didn’t already). Make sure they do not already have feedback from someone else. Thursday-Post your new comment, revised using the feedback you received. Math help will be available with me at 1:30 in the Math Help channel in our Team. P.A.R.: What has challenged you the most so far with the online learning? If you feel like you haven’t been challenged, then what have you found frustrating, annoying, difficult (these could also mean challenging;)

For today: Digital Citizenship: Go to the Week 4 Digital Citizenship folder and read through the assignment Letter to Self: if you have red writing on your draft, then I have given you feedback. Make the suggested changes. If you do NOT have red writing on your draft, it is because you did not make your document editable as I asked. Open a new doc, copy and paste your already written draft into it, and share it with me according to the instructions (from yesterday’s post, in the assignment as well). If you do not have feedback yet, email me when you have made your document editable and I will revisit it. Math: Week 4, Math, Math April 29th Document Blog Post: Today you should be on to the feedback phase if you have not already done so. If you have already received feedback you can make your revisions and repost. Go to the “Blog Responses” page. Watch the video, then follow the instructions below. I will no longer email you to tell you to reshare your document with me. All feedback will be on your document by tomorrow morning at 9:00am. If you have none, it's because you did not share it with me correctly. Above is an image of one section of your instructions for the Letter to Self ******UPDATE***** LETTER TO SELF: I gave very clear instructions in the Letter to Self assignment on how to share your document with me so that I can edit. As I am starting to give feedback, 2 out of the first 3 letters did not allow me to edit. I cannot give you feedback unless you allow me to edit!!!! If you did not allow me to edit, reshare the document with me and ALLOW EDITING. Tuesday, April 28th It was great talking to you all yesterday! Good morning all! I hope you had a restful and relaxing weekend! Please remember to check your email and the class website every single school day! It is also super important that you read the instructions on every assignment very carefully. Many of you are missing different pieces of criteria, such as the menu or write-up for the Home Cooking assignment. This week will also require you to give and receive feedback, then apply that feedback to improve your writing. Here is the agenda for the upcoming week: Digital Citizenship-Poster Project (due Friday at 3pm) Math-Area of Triangles (due Friday at 3pm) Weeklong Project-Letter to Self (due MONDAY, MAY 4TH at 3pm) Blog Post: Empathy vs. Sympathy (Tuesday/Wednesday) (original post due Tuesday at 3pm, feedback due Wednesday 10am, revised post due Wednesday at 3pm). Math: Week 4, Math, Math April 27th Document Letter to Self: Read the instructions very carefully, and ask clarifying questions if you have them. You need to create a word document in Office 365. The instructions are very specific in the assignment. You should ensure you understand the assignment today, then create and share the document with me by Tuesday. Class Meeting: 2:00pm today. Your attendance is required. Please email me if you cannot attend for some reason. Click on the new channel in our Team called "Class Meetings." You should see a button in the top right that says "Join Meeting." P.A.R.: How are you doing now that we are starting Week 4? UPDATE! Apparently Teams has been glitching and the math quiz wasn't appearing. I have deleted the quiz that wasn't working, and replaced it. Also, IGNORE whatever score it says you got. I go through individually and mark each one. If you'd like your score, send me an email or a message on the Team chat and I will tell you what you got.
Happy Friday Division 2! I don't know about you, but I am excited about the weekend! I am very proud of you for how hard you have been working this week. Keep it up! Today’s Agenda: Math: Math quiz under “Assignments.” It is called “Area of a Parallelogram.” I will do a Math help tutorial at 11am for those who would like extra help on the concept before they write the quiz. You will all receive an invite to this, but only those who wish to have extra help need to come to the call. Digital Citizenship - Chatting Online. If you have not yet submitted this, you ONLY need to type in how you would respond to 3 red flags into the Freshgrade assignment at this time. Just do it as a comment. Upstanders and Allies Digital Citizenship assignment is due today. You will respond on the new page on the class website called “Blog Responses.” We will be using this page extensively next week so it is a way for you to familiarize yourself with it. Home Cooking: This is your weeklong assignment this week. All weeklong assignments will be due on Friday. You will submit your required materials to the assignment on Freshgrade. Do not forget the written portion of the assignment! You are required to make a menu for your meal, as well as list the ingredients, recipe, grocery list, etc. Please re-read the criteria. Also remember, you need to make a meal, not just a snack. PE: Do something active. Go outside, ride a bike, play with a sibling in the yard, etc. Or, try one of the PE exercises on the Extra Learning Opportunities page. Reading: Your week 3 Book Video Blog is due today. Please upload them to Freshgrade under the “Book Video Blog” assignment where you have uploaded the other two. So, to recap, by the end of day Friday you should have finished and submitted:

For the assignment called "Upstanders and Allys, you will notice that there is both a PDF and a Word document. DOWNLOAD the word document, open it on your desktop, click "Save As" and call it "YOURNAME Upstanders." It is essential that you do not click "Edit" in the word document that is in the Week 3 Digital Citizenship file as then you will alter my document. P.A.R.: Share a crazy article or news heading that sounds like it could be fake (Like our Fish fall from the sky or Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus articles). Respond to one other student who does not already have a response and make a guess about whether their title is fake news or real. You might want to do a quick Google search to get some information! Be sure to explain WHY you think their title is real or fake (hint hint, look for corroboration!) For example "I think your title of "Jellyfish do gymnastics" is a fake article because when I searched on google, I did not find any other information about this." Happy Tuesday Division 2! I hope those of you that had missing assignments were able to make good use of your Catch Up day. For everyone else, I hope you found something enjoyable to do.
Bad news first. As you all know, I made a mistake on the math quiz on Friday and did not have the name question in there. Now that I know how it works, I will make sure I do quizzes through Teams from now on. However, this means that I am only able to know that the following people did the quiz: Owen Sophie Jino Analisa Mark Shylee Lukas Jordan Sadie Mark Justin Mya Marsali Jason Alex Jakob Addison As a result, if your name is NOT on here, I need you to pretty please do the quiz again. If your name is not on the above list, I will email you the link to the quiz again. Again, I apologize for putting you through this twice! If you would like support in today's math, send me a message on chat in Teams or email me and we will do a call at 11:00 am. If no one lets me know they need help, I will not do the tutorial. Lastly, a reminder that if I emailed you with a list of missing work last night, you are required to email me and let me know that it has been completed. I did not receive any emails in regards to this, so please ensure that the work is completed (unless you and I have chatted on the phone about a specific assignment) and that you email me when the work is done. As always, if you have any questions, please ask! Monday, April 20th
Good morning Division 2. I hope you had a restful weekend. I’d like to go over a couple of things before I let you know what you will be doing this week. Firstly, thank you to those of you who completed the Week 2 Student Survey. I really do value your feedback. One important thing I noticed is that many of you are finding the amount of communication from me to be too much. I totally understand and I will try and reduce it as much I can. Please be patient with me though. I am still learning how to teach in this new way, and I sometimes miss things, which is why I send a couple extra emails. I will definitely try and get better at this. Secondly, I am still missing several assignments from many of you. Some of you have communicated with me and we have discussed these, but most of you who are missing work have not spoken to me. So, in an effort to be as understanding as I can, I am making tomorrow a Catch Up day. You will be responsible for finishing and submitting any assignments that you have not completed and handed in. I will be emailing each of you individually to let you know what you are missing. If you have finished all of your assignments, you can choose to do a couple of different things: 1. Get ahead on the rest of the week by going into the Week 3 Folder and seeing what else you will be working on 2. Go to the Extra Learning Opportunities page on my class website and find something that piques your interest. I will be setting up times for math support that we will conduct through a Teams conference call. I will post on the website when I know the day and time, but likely Tuesday and Thursday mornings. P.A.R.: Family Meeting Check in. How are you doing today and why? *********UPDATE*********
I'm so sorry all of you! The link I sent you before did NOT record who was completing the quiz! Please forgive me! I have included ANOTHER link that I sent in your email that will record your responses so I know who has actually done the quiz. If you have already completed the quiz, I apologize, and if possible, can you either email me and tell me exactly what time you did at, or redo it. Your choice. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=z-m0CBOBDUK6B1L31N-KzaMd0J9HmRVNoS03faP2y8pUQ0hBVDBOS0s1TVFNRzBGQkxZN1ZLMk0wNS4u Friday, April 17th Happy Friday Y'all! Congrats on finishing your second week of learning at home. Many of you are doing very well at completing your assignments, and others are still getting in the groove. That's ok! Remember though to communicate with me if you are falling behind or having trouble with assignments. Reading: Please post your weekly video blog about your book on to FreshGrade. You will upload it to the same assignment as last time so that all your video blogs are together. PE: Go outside and play for at least 30 minutes (if you have a safe place to do so) Math: I have emailed you each a link to a Form called One and Two Step Equations. This quiz is a bit longer because it is the end of our Algebra unit. If you need help, email me BEFORE you do the quiz. I am happy to help you!!! Digital Citizenship: Ensure you have completed Behaving Ethically Online and Finding Credible News. Several of you have uploaded the assignment but the document has not been completed. Remember to do both Fish Falling from the Sky and the Pacific Tree Octopus. Art: Please see the "Spreading Positivity" document in the Week 2 Fine Arts folder. This is your week-long challenge for this week. Please email me a photo of your art and upload it to Freshgrade. Class call at 10:00am. Remember to read through the criteria that are in the instruction email that I sent to you. Go to our Team, and on the left side you will see a button that says "Calendar." Click on that. On today's date at 10:00 you will see "Class Meeting." Click on "Join." Make sure that your camera is turned off after clicking. There will be an option to turn the camera off after you click "Join." P.A.R.: What is one word to describe how you are feeling at the end of this week? |
