Today Division 2 worked through some serious rehearsals for the Christmas concert, coming December 12th! We also started a new math unit about percents, something that the students will likely use a lot in real life. It was a bit of a struggle at first, but hopefully with a little bit more practice, they will be flying through the concepts. Report cards were also sent home at the end of the day. Please have a parent or guardian sign one of the copies and send that one back.
Reminders: Math homework: pg 156 #1-7 Concert Ticket orders Sister School donations (cash or products) Start to gather your things for your costume. -Teachers: Dress shirt, tie, black pants -"Band" students: Black pants, white shirt (white dress shirt if possible) Remember, you do NOT have to go out and buy something. Please email [email protected] if you would like to arrange a parent teacher interview. It does not just need to be for the 5th. We can schedule for another day that works. December 12th; Christmas Concert performances at 1:00pm and 6:00pm. Students need to arrive 30 minutes early. December 16th: Last day of nutrition. Bring vegetables and supplies. December 17th: Decorating gingerbread houses. Bring your own candy! December 18th: We will be bowling with Division 4 from 10:30-11:30 (notice to be sent shortly) December 20th: Last day of school before winter break. Bring your Secret Santa gift! P.A.R.: In Touching Spirit Bear, Cole has been presented with many metaphors about life, such as a hot dog and a stick. Life is like a hot dog, it is what you make it. As for the stick, it represented anger. No matter how much you try to break off the anger end, there is still an end, meaning the anger will always be there. Give an example of the book where Cole could have done something differently, if he had changed perspectives. For example, he was provided with a shelter when he first went to the island. Instead of looking at it as a place to sleep, he could think of it as a warm, cozy fortress, his own personal castle on the island. That could have changed the way he felt about being on the island. Think of your own example of something Cole had, saw, or did, and explain how changing his perspective about it could have been resulted in something more positive.
