Today was a very full day for Division 2. This morning we enjoyed our assembly in recognition of Orange Shirt Day to remember residential school survivors. We listened to beautiful drums and songs performed by Stars of the North.
During the afternoon, Division 2 really focused on getting to know each other. Lately we have been struggling with fully understanding what it means to respect ourselves, others, and belongings. We have had several class discussions but the students still seem to be struggling with putting themselves in others' shoes to see how they might be impacting others with their own actions and behaviours. Students were partnered up and they interviewed each other. We then shared what we learned as a class. I know that I learned a lot about each student and I hope everyone else learned a lot too. For Tuesday, students now need to bring in an item that is important to them, that has real significance. It should not just be something that they like (like a video game) but something that they are tied to emotionally in some way. If it is something that can't be brought in, they can bring a photo of the item. We will be sharing in front of the class. Reminders: NO SCHOOL MONDAY Art Collage due date extended to Wednesday, October 2nd Hockey Jerseys due Friday, October 4th Boys away game for soccer at Cloverdale Traditional, October 3rd Bring personal item to share with the class so we can get to know each other.
