Happy Friday Titans! It is also the last day of September! Write your favourite thing about September in your post. We had a great day that was very productive. Division 5 picked their players for our Hockey Math Pool and prepared their graphs to record statistics. They started to make real progress with their personal Timelines for Social Studies as well.
In the afternoon, we spent some quality time with our buddies, skipping and reading out in the sunshine. Lastly, Joel did some more teaching about anime art...you could have heard a pin drop! It was so quiet while the students worked that it was easy to see how engaged they were. One thing that we also did today was discuss indian residential schools. We watched a few videos and read Shi-Shi-Etko. Today was orange shirt day which shows support for those who have been affected by residential schools. As this is a very large and complex topic, we barely scratched the surface of the effects of these schools on Canada's Aboriginal people. The students were very respectful during these conversations and had a lot of great comments. Homework: Math 6: finish # 3, 4, 6 if not already done for Monday (try them!) Continue to do some basic division facts by searching division games on google. Post the link of any good ones in the comments below. Hockey Math: Jerseys completed (front and back) for Tuesday Criteria: Logo /5 4 colours /4 Team Name /1 Player Name /1 Creative /5 Front and Back /4 Social Studies: Timelines due Friday, October 7th Reminders: Monday is Hot Lunch Day I'm still waiting for Student Verification Sheets from a couple of people...you know who you are! P.A.R.: What is one new thing you learned, or something you wondered about during our talk about Indian Residential Schools?
