Division 5 has been having some phenomenal discussions about poverty over the last couple of days. This morning in groups we looked at what some possible causes for poverty were. We then tallied up how many of those causes were due to poor financial decisions and how many were due to things that are outside many people's control. To close our day, the students each wrote an opinion piece where they had to argue a perspective. They either had to argue why they believed that the majority of people living in poverty are doing so because of their own actions, or they had to argue why they thought that the majority of people living in poverty are doing so for reasons outside of their control.
