Yesterday afternoon we discussed examples of open, thoughtful questions. Here are some examples that we came up with:
What holidays did you celebrate and how did you celebrate them/what were some of your traditions? What was it like growing up with 3 sisters and 1 brother under one roof? What were your thoughts on the war? What was the reasoning behind moving from the Ukraine to Alberta? What is one word you would use to describe her and why? The questions should allow the answer to be told as a story instead of a one word answer such as "Did you like living there? What is your birthdate? How many siblings do you have?" Math 6: Have a night off:) If I've already spoken to you about a rewrite, consider doing some practice questions. I will try to have the rewrite ready for Monday. Math 7: Night off:) LA: Resumes due TOMORROW morning, printed out and on my desk. If you do not have a printer, we can print them during recess. Halloween Story due October 28th Reminders: Scholastic orders due Monday October 24th Art Cards due November 1st P.A.R.: Both grade 7's and 6's have written math tests in the last two days. Naturally, you will be expected to comment on your FreshGrade about how you did. Write a sample comment that someone might write. It does not have to be based off of your actual performance. It could comment about how hard you studied, how much effort you put in, if you did it to the best of your ability, etc. Don't forget about our Growth Mindset and the power of "yet."
